The first step before insulating or re-insulating is to inspect the area to be insulated for air leaks.
We can do a full inspection of your attic, crawl space, or other space to detect any air leaks and then seal them off. We understand where to look for air leaks and how to find them. We use tools like blower doors and fog machines when necessary, but we can often find leakage points visually or with the assistance of nothing more than a simple flashlight.
Sunken or dust-covered batts, for example, are a sign of air movement. And leaks often occur around vents, chimneys, or attic hatches. There may also be holes/cracks in attic walls or ceilings that need to be caulked. Or, there may be major openings, say, in the attic floor that need OSB board or plywood put over them.
Chimneys may need metal and heat-resistant caulk around them, and the top plate above your drywall may need to be sealed with adhesive. We will know how to identify all air leaks and fix them permanently.
Simi Valley and the surrounding area have plenty of old attics and other spaces that lack insulation or that have inadequate insulation. We can correct that problem. And if you have asbestos-containing vermiculite insulation, we can safely remove it and replace it with a safer alternative.

The most common and most affordable type of insulation is batts, which refers to long, rectangular pieces of paper-backed insulation that are cut out of rolls.
When properly installed, this type of insulation will interconnect and create a solid barrier. It won’t necessarily fill in the spaces it is placed on as solidly as blown insulation, but it will be more than adequate for many uses.
Batts comes in fiberglass or cotton material. The cotton variety is made of recycled jeans, which makes it especially good for the environment! But both fiberglass and cotton will insulate at about the same level of effectiveness.
While batts is great for many situations, there are places where blown insulation is preferable. Blown insulation comes in chunks that form a relatively compact barrier that fully fills in the spaces on which it is placed (often, on the attic floor.)
Pure Eco can drive to your home in one of our insulation trucks, and access your attic floor or any other part of your home where the blown insulation needs to go, using a blower and hose. We can rapidly deposit the insulation, ensure it is properly (compactly) laid down, and do it without making a mess or disturbing your home life.
Blown insulation can be made of fiberglass or cellulose material. The cellulose variety is often made from used newspapers, while the fiberglass kind is sourced from sand, an abundant natural resource.
Besides batts and blown insulation, we also have expertise in installing Roxul-brand soundproof insulation, which creates a sound barrier inside the walls of a room you need to be especially quiet. This is a great option for a baby room or a study or anywhere where you don’t want to be disturbed.
Soundproof insulation is denser than ordinary insulation and will absorb sound waves very effectively. And additionally, Roxul’s soundproof insulation will compress existing batts insulation deeper into the wall, which will make it fill in the space more tightly. That gives you yet more insulating power!
Roxul soundproof insulation is resistant to mold and mildew, will not cause corrosion to pipes in your wall, and is Greenguard® Certified.
Besides insulating, you can also stop heat from building up in your attic (and raising your cooling bill) by installing a radiant barrier just below your roofline.
During the hot Simi Valley summers, heat will get into your attic after being radiated off of the hot roof just above, but a radiant barrier’s reflective (often aluminum foil), multilayered surface will immediately reflect that radiated heat back out of your home.
Our staff at Pure Eco has extensive experience in installing a wide variety of modern radiant heat barriers according to manufacturer’s recommendations. We know how to prevent excessive dust build-up on the reflective surface to ensure the effectiveness of the barrier is not compromised.
In addition to air sealing and insulating your attic, we can also rodent proof your home. When holes and openings (or weak spots in attics through which animals can claw and bite) exist, your attic can become a stopping off point for mice, rats, and other pests before they move on to other parts of your home.
Our rodent-proofing service will involve finding all possible entry points on attic walls and ceilings and on the roof above. We will seal smaller holes with caulk or other sealants, block off major openings with plywood, metal webbing, or other materials, install vent covers and chimney caps as needed.
Plus, we can set up traps to catch rodents and other vermin that may already have gotten in!
Additional service we offer at Pure Eco include improving ventilation by installing attic fans, other fans and vents, replacing old ducts or repairing them, cleaning attics and crawl spaces so they are no longer “intimidating” to enter, and installing UV cleansers/air scrubbers on your furnace to freshen and clean indoor air.
